LOVE JOPLIN

This afternoon on the Welcome Home Broadcast

I interviewed WRI staff member Pastor Wes Davis. He heads up our pastor leadership training in Haiti, from which he just returned. He is the lead Pastor of Riverton Friends Church, Riverton, KS which is about 7-8 miles from the tornado destruction of Joplin, MO. He spoke to me on air while traveling from one family funeral situation to another. Pastor Wes stated that 700-1000 people are still missing! 163 are dead. One young husband married less than a year in the congregation perished. A precious lady of the congregation who served the Lord and cleaned Wes's house is missing. The hospital where 30+ from his congregation work are ministering medical care in tents. They have no idea what their future is at the demolished hospital. Patients were loaded into the backs of pickups after the storm.

When asked what the body of Christ can do to help, Pastor Davis suggested letting people in the area know you are praying, send a note or card. [ Send % of Riverton Friends Church 6484 SE 70th St, Riverton KS 66770] His church is sending out 3-4 work teams a day. They ask families in need to be specific about their situation, then the church goes and buys what they need and deliver it. Pray for these teams, the families who have lost loved ones and the families of those still missing.

We have created Love Joplin, to gather funds for the church to continue to make those specific purchases for families in need. Send to: World Renewal Int'l, PO Box 399, Greenfield, IN 46140 or donate online at http://www.worldrenewal.org/ 100% of the donations will be turned over to this endeaver.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Thanks to all who made the Birthday Party for Jesus possible for children in Brazil, Mexico and Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In this picture Heather Moraes is preparing the gifts for the children of Brazil. Helping her are Dan, Cody Jessup and her mother.

Carol and I were blessed by a Christmas card from my cousin Max and his wife Lea. The card read,

"From His first cry in Bethlehem to his final cry at Calvary he has never stopped His undying love for us."

I can't imagine it being said better. Thank to all and for stopping by.

Brazil Good News-New Follwers of Christ

Frank Penna says "You can sense the excitement in Valmir's report today about the meeting last Saturday night. To have 30 adults from the community is amazing. It shows they have been doing a lot of personal contact. The rest of the sentence means that most all of the Community Church of Carpina were also there as support and to lead the worship.
Another person comes to Christ, and another Bible study is started! "

Cholera Takes Main Caregiver for Orphanage

Rosanna's mother,Concilla Constant Carlemont, was hospitalized for treatment for Cholera but passed away last night. She gave loving care to our orphans. She was the main caregiver. Max Wright , our Haiti Field Director could hardly hear Luc on the phone for all the grieving in the background. We can pray and provide funds for water and medical hydration. Funds sent thus far to WRI have already been wired. Thanks for stopping by.

Please take a moment and pray for our dear one's in Haiti. Cholera has claimed the life of Pastor Luc's father, Verilus, last night in Haiti. Cholera is mainly spread through unclean drinking water. It is a serious outbreak and over 200 are already dead. Luc sent 1000 gallons to his village yesterday. Please go to our blog: http://worldrenewalhaiti.blogspot.com/ for more information. Thanks
